Event Background
The Gold Coast Magic Millions Carnival was first held in 1987. In the 1990s the event was taken over by Gerry Harvey and John Singleton. Harvey, a successful businessman (aka Harvey Norman) and horse breeder together with the advertising entrepreneur, Singleton, had a vision to create a world-class racing and social event on the Gold Coast. Something they achieved quite successfully.
The carnival has grown significantly since its inception. In 1987, the carnival featured just a handful of races. Today, the carnival features over 100 races, as well as a range of other events. Today the event is wholly owned and managed by Harvey and his wife, Katie Page.
The Gold Coast Magic Millions Carnival is now one of the most important racing and social events in Australia. The carnival attracts thousands of visitors each year and generates millions of dollars for the Gold Coast economy.
